La musique pure et acoustique de Bakhan, aux frontières du funk, de la soul et de l’Afrique de l’ouest, est universelle. Bakhan bouscule les genres et les idées reçues, modernise le chant africain porté par une voix profonde modulée à l’infini, puise dans le blues mandingue et le métissage culturel de son pays, la Mauritanie.
Sa musique est avant tout un hymne au partage et au croisement des cultures, car au-delà de sa verve, son œuvre est aussi celle d’un combat, où d’exils en voyages le jeune mauritanien use de la musique comme vecteur d’émancipation.
